Uplifted

So I have a dear friend who lives over in the East coast, she was one of my first roommates after I returned from my mission, Amy Price Holly.  She has been a great friend that I love dearly and MISS DEARLY!  She has a blog that I LOVE to read, because she not only posts pictures of her kids, but she also shares some of her thoughts, moments, personal events that uplift me when I have an "off" day.  Thank you Amy Lou!!  Because of her, I've decided to add some of my personal thoughts, "aha" moments, or events in my life on our blog.  This would kinda be more like journaling for me.

Scripture reading
So, I have decided to be more diligent in my scripture reading, as I noticed that my days tend to be better, not necessarily that I have no "problems", but that whatever does happpen that isn't "planned" is not such a big deal.  Jason and I have picked up a book at the Seagull bookstore called, "Please Pass the Scriptures-from reading to feasting"  by John Hilton III.  At the end of each chapter, it has assignments, to help us to get the most out of the book.  So while Savannah is napping right now, I read out of the BoM, then read a chapter out of the book.  My "assignment" is to record some experiences I've had that have taught me the importance of scripture reading.  Well, I just realized that I already wrote down one of them, above, about how it makes my day a little better.  I must admit though, that I have tended to do my scripture reading more out of duty.  I hope that I can utilize my quiet time (Savannah napping time) to read and study and learn from the scriptures.  I know that I need to be an anchor in my home to help raise my childeren to know the right from wrong.  Also, I need to be an example to them too.  How can I expect them to read their scriptures and pray, if I'm not doing it myself?  I'm regular with my prayers, I just need to add scripture study to my day.
I am so grateful for the Gospel.  I have been strenghthened and comforted this last year, adjusting to motherhood and coping with all those hormones and stuff.  I know that these teachings are true.  I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He LIVES!  I know that I can be with my Family Forever and what great comfort that gives me!

May your day be peaceful and wonderful!

Yeah the trip to Utah was so much fun that we hated to have to leave. I was surprised at how intrigued my kids were at all the history there. I seriously thought they would get bored after awhile, but they were the ones I was having to pull out of the visitors centers. Just goes to show that the trip was way worth going even if it took 14 hours to get there. Love us
